Support my 28km Long Walk Home to Help People in Crisis

2020 has been a big year for all of us in so many different ways. With my birthday just around the corner, I joked that that I would skip this year and try again next year. However, there have been so many people this year whose lives have been turned upside down and it would be selfish for me to pretend this year hasn’t happened.

This year, I am supporting Wayside Chapel by taking part in the Long Walk Home fundraiser by walking 28km in seven days. I am doing this as every week, a person sleeping rough on our streets has to walk 28km to find shelter or a place to sleep.

With the ripple effects of the COVID19 pandemic and recessions barely even beginning to show,  and the multiple other factors that impact living conditions of our communities (domestic violence for one), we truly need to be banding together to support our fellow Australians who have been forced to live a life on the streets.

This year, I am asking you to support me by donating to Wayside Chapel.  Wayside Chapel have been providing emergency shelter, community programs and referral services to health and welfare agencies (to name a few things) to homeless Australians in NSW for years.

I know this year has been a financial strain on many of us, so if you are unable to donate please take the time to volunteer for a local charity, or take some time to research the effects of homelessness in Australia or ANY cause that your heart feels drawn to. It’s been a tough year, but tough times are made easier when we come together.
