Stand with Wayside Chapel and walk 28km to help people living on our streets

Sign up now

On average a person experiencing homelessness walks about 28km every week to access vital support services and to find a safe place to sleep.

By challenging yourself to join the Long Walk Home, you’ll be showing people sleeping on and around our streets that they’re not alone, whilst also raising funds for Wayside Chapel. With your help, we can continue offering unconditional love, wrap-around care and support to people experiencing crisis and social isolation. Together we can create a community of no ‘us and them’.

Whether you choose to join Wayside on Friday 7 October and take the Long Walk Home with us from Parramatta to Kings Cross, or you prefer to complete 28km over one week, every step you take will help someone on their journey to healing.

Choose Love over Hate

Creating community with no ‘us and them’

Under a banner of ‘love over hate,’ Wayside Chapel has been providing unconditional love, care and wrap-around support for people experiencing homelessness and social isolation since 1964. Our mission is to create a community with no ‘us and them’, and address underlying issues of inequality, wellbeing, and loneliness. From our centres in Kings Cross and Bondi and through outreach teams, we offer a range of support services that place dignity, respect, and love at the heart of what we do.

Long Walk Home encourages you to take the challenge to walk in solidarity to help these people in crisis, all while getting you out of the house and contributing to your own health and wellbeing.

We challenge each participant to aim for a fundraising goal of $764 with your first $360 raised awarding you a Long Walk Home t-shirt.

We will ensure we are following any COVID-19 restrictions that apply at the time, and we will keep you informed of any event changes or updates.

We are all in this together! Walk with us on the Long Walk Home, and do the distance so that other people don’t have to every night.
