G'day, I'm Scott.
Life's been a rollercoaster. Grew up down south of Sydney, big family, big dreams playing soccer. But life hit hard. Lost my brother who was my best mate, lost my mum, found myself on the wrong side of life. Streets of Kings Cross became home, addiction became my reality.
I've seen the inside of prison, tried rehab a few times, and even survived a serious car crash. But this year? This year's different. I finally broke free from drugs and I'm laser-focused on reconnecting with my son.
Wayside Chapel, they've been my rock. They fed me when I was hungry, helped me get a driver's license for the first time and organising a private rental with a mate, which in Sydney can be hard to find! The team are always there for me when times are rough. They just seem to know when I’m an emotional wreck or having a bad day and can help pick me up... they care about me.
Now I’ve got a full-time demolition job and I'm up at 5am, pushing myself hard every day. Got dreams of coaching soccer one day, giving kids the chances, I missed out on. But right now, I’m getting ready for the Long Walk Home, 28km for Wayside. To be honest, I walked a lot further than 28km when I was living on the streets but right now, this is my way of giving back and supporting those who need a helping hand like I did.
